Wow… I can’t believe how fast time goes by. Two of my daughters are in full swing of softball, the church parsonage is up for sale, major transitions at church. Life is busy. I am sure most of you can relate.
We are doing some major transitions at the church. We have changed our leadership structure to allow for faster and more relevant movement without all the politics. We are changing names, or more to the point we are allowing the old to pass away and we are going to see a rebirth of the new… new wineskin so to speak. We will be moving away from being a denominational focused body to a more community focus movement of faith. I will write more of our new vision and purpose later.
The first major change is we are ending our Sunday morning services and will be going to Saturday nights. Our target date to begin this is June 14th. Everyone we have talked with is excited about our new direction and plan and can really sense the movement of change and vision God is creating in us. I will fill you in more next week. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Last Wednesday night our leaders were talking about what we are going to do with our space for our youth and children’s programs, they are growing like crazy. We discussed moving things around and we were all thankful for having problems like this. Then yesterday we got a call from a restaurant owner that is remodeling and offered to give us all his tables and chairs, all we need to do is come pick them up! WOW. We needed to re-do our space, we didn’t even have to pray or ask God, he just took care of our needs.
We will now be able to set up our the whole area into a deli/coffee shop style of seating. This is awesome. It will completely give a new look and feel. God, I just wanted to say it here where everyone can see it… you are awesome, thank you for looking out for us!
Many of you know that I broke my cell phone last Thursday. It was actually kind of funny, if I didn’t have to experience it for myself. I just finished texting a friend and didn’t quite have a good hold on my phone so it dropped kind of half open. It hit just right and broke off one side of the hinge for the flip. So the top part was just kind of barely hanging there . It all still worked so I thought I would be able to super glue it back together. It would have worked too….if I hadn’t dropped it again. I dropped the phone as I was trying to fix it and broke the flip clean off.
I had the pleasure of confiscating my daughters pink cell phone for the weekend until they could send me a replacement. What a deal, I didn’t know if I would survive, you just get too attached to having your cell phone with all your info in it.
Today I stopped by a Sprint store and since the old phone could still turn on they were able to transfer all my data to the new phone. Made my day. It’s nice to have all my info back on my phone, in my own pocket, and not pink!
Yesterday was pretty cool. We had a great time with God in worship and prayer. If you want to check out the message it is here. Sunday evening we were meeting together to discuss the future of the church and my vision for where God is leading us. We have some really large decisions to make and some very important changes. Many gathered for prayer before the meeting and as we began to discuss you could sense the unity and the desire of everyone to allow God to change us into the church that it needs to be. No more holding on to tradition, no more holding on to the things that don’t matter. The future will hold a church that is not about denomination, not about buildings or preserving the past but about our faith, our families and our community. Creating an environment that is about following Jesus Christ. No more games. Aren’t you excited to be a part of this? It is going to be incredible!
As I was working out this morning, I pulled up the Myspace for Shane & Shane for some motivation music. I heard the newer CD was worth checking out. Pretty good stuff. I was really moved by the song Beg (Acoustic version). You have got to listen to it if you haven’t yet. Some very powerful lyrics and a good tune too. Here is the link: Shane and Shane Myspace
